Means of transport today represent a large part of the global pollution. That is why it is necessary to act quickly to protect the planet and make our economy sustainable, notably through green mobility. Here we will see that there are already suppliers who have anticipated the trend with adapted offers.

What is green mobility?

An eco-responsible approach

The basic principle of green mobility is to travel while limiting harmful effects on the environment. It is not necessarily about choosing 100% ecological means of transport, but rather about having an eco-responsible approach as often as possible. For example, this can mean favoring public transport rather than personal cars, going to work by bike if the place is not too far from your home, or using electric vehicles. Carpooling is also an increasingly popular trend thanks to many dedicated smartphone apps. The important thing is always to ask yourself if a more ecological alternative would be possible for your trips. Moreover, it is also an easy way to save money.

Towards less polluting means of transport

In recent years, we have witnessed a rise in electric vehicles, both in France and worldwide. Cars, scooters, bikes, or even scooters, it is now increasingly common to see these kinds of electric vehicles on the road. This trend fully fits within the framework of green mobility. Although they are still quite polluting today, especially in terms of manufacturing and battery charging, these 2.0 means of transport represent a significant step towards the energy transition. The advantage is that we already know how to produce electricity from renewable sources such as the sun, water, or wind. We can therefore hope that in a few years, most vehicles will be able to run on electricity and that this electricity will be produced mainly from renewable energy sources.

Energy suppliers and their ecological offers

100% green energy offers

To adapt to the ecological trend and current environmental challenges, many suppliers today offer plans designed to support renewable energies. These are often called 100% green energy offers. This does not mean consuming green energy at home, but rather participating in the development of renewable energies in general. Indeed, the principle is that the money collected for each kWh of energy consumed through your subscription will then be reinvested in renewable energy production. It is therefore a good way to make a gesture for the environment, especially since there are now many green electricity suppliers with very attractive offers.

Offers specialized in green mobility

In addition to supporting green energy production, some suppliers have also taken the lead over their competitors by offering plans favorable to green mobility. These are more interesting for those who have an electric vehicle and want to charge it at home. For this, the offers work with a Peak Hours / Off-Peak Hours system including rates even lower than usual during Off-Peak Hours. Thus, the subscriber can charge their electric vehicle during these periods and save money. Among them are notably EDF’s Vert Électrique Auto plan and Engie’s Elec’Car offer, both offering prices up to 50% lower during Off-Peak Hours.

How to subscribe to a green energy offer?

Subscribing to a supplier, whether for a green offer or a classic offer, is very simple. You will just need to provide some information such as your meter number, your contact details, your postal address, and a meter reading. You can do this by phone or online according to your preferences. In the case of the green mobility offers mentioned earlier, you will also need to provide proof that you own an electric vehicle. If you change suppliers, know that the new one will take care of canceling your old contract for you. Energy contracts are without commitment and can therefore be canceled at any time without justification.
