Buy an electric bike and save 200€ to 500€

Since February 19, 2017, state aid has allowed you to save up to €200 on the purchase of your electric bike .

In addition, there are also subsidies of up to €400 in many French cities .

Also, since December 1, 2019, a bonus from the Île-de-France Mobilités authority subsidizes the purchase of electric bicycles up to €500 .

Our entire range of Weebike electric bikes is affected by these subsidies.

Find all the details on the various subsidies and aid for the purchase of an electric bike on our dedicated article .

Which electric bike to choose?

There are two main uses for e-bikes : city or leisure.

The majority of electric bikes are city bikes (straight position, high handlebars and comfort saddle).

However, there are sportier models capable of overcoming obstacles in the manner of electric mountain bikes .

If you want to get around town on a daily basis (commuting), we recommend a classic/city model. Comfort and practicality will be omnipresent.

Conversely, if you want to use your electric bike for leisure (rides, use in the forest/mountain), we recommend a more versatile and sporty model.

The weight of the electric bike

We are aware that weight remains an important selection criterion for your electric bike .

This can range from 9Kg for the lightest up to 30Kg for the heaviest. The vast majority are between 17 and 25Kg.

If weight is an important criterion for you, prioritize city electric bikes or folding electric bikes which are smaller and lighter.

Note that a heavy bike can also mean more power and therefore less pedaling effort. So it all depends on your usage.

Motorization and power of the electric bike

The battery gives the electric bike its autonomy and power .

The more voltage (V) you have, the more power you will feel. The more ampere-hours (Ah) you have, the more autonomy you will have.

In a hilly environment, choose a battery with a minimum of 36V to support the climbs. On flat ground a voltage of 24V is sufficient. For trips over 25 km, a minimum of 8Ah is recommended.

- For mathematicians!

To calculate the power of an electric bike in Watts, multiply the voltage of its battery expressed in volts by the intensity expressed in amperes.

A 24V 10 Ah bike is 240W. If the bike has a power greater than 250W, such as 36V 8Ah = 288W, for example, this is electronically limited and the excess power is transferred to greater battery life.

- Do not forget !

  • The weight of the bike, the driver, the pedaling assistance mode chosen, the type of road and many other criteria influence the autonomy. The figures provided by the manufacturers are indicative.
  • All e-bikes are limited in Europe to 250W.

Electric bike batteries

All our bikes, even cheap electric bikes, incorporate Samsung Li-Ion batteries . This type of battery weighs about half as much as a lead battery, has no memory effect and has superior performance to lead or NI-MH batteries. Lithium Ion batteries support 600 to 1200 charge cycles for the best.

Warning !

A battery remains a chemical element that deteriorates over time. Follow the manufacturers' recommendations to prolong its lifespan.

Lithium-ion is a technology that is not sensitive to the memory effect. It is therefore possible to recharge your battery without waiting for it to be completely flat. Do not leave it plugged in all the time, its performance will suffer. Avoid storing it in the cold, lithium-ion does not like it.

If you go several months without riding, remember to recharge it from time to time. No need to keep a spare battery. Finally, be aware that its performance will drop by 10 to 15% per year even if you do not use it.
